Finally an update about my first completed Magic Loop method socks.
I finished them some time ago but have been remiss about posting. So the Plain Jane details:
Wool: Regia 4-ply 75% Superwash New Wool 25% Polyamide // Knit on 2.25mm Circular needles by Magic Loop method.
So as I mentioned previously, this was my first attempt at MLM and apart from the craziness of trying to figure out how to work the heels, all was reasonably well and quite easy. The biggest frustrations I experienced were occasionally dropping the ‘edge’ stitches just as I was completing a row. Damn my stitches are tiny and tight! This dropping involved lots of swearing and grabbing DPNS to fiddle and retrieve the lost stitches. Still I think it was well worth my efforts. And so I now have a pair of socks with absolutely NO ladders!
As for the color way … very very plain – actually quite vanilla; what I would describe as a birch paper white. In fact, I’ve never really knit a solid colorway before, apart from when I first learned how to knit socks using horrible acrylic yarn; I don’t count those efforts. The socks didn’t last and I quickly moved on to sock yarns. So another first for these socks. I believe they will serve me well.
As for the Magic Loop method? Really not too difficult and quite enjoyable, but I will still use DPNs. It’s good to have options.
